CoreTech Launches the Apps for Humanity Challenge!

BY NICK | 1 min read

HeroX is excited to announce the official launch of the Apps for Humanity Challenge! The CoreTech Foundation, a public benefit corporation based in Santa Monica, California, wants to know how you can use their open source technology to make a difference in the world.

For this particular challenge, CoreTech will be featuring their C.O.R.E. Toolkit, a platform that helps make technological tools Central, Open, Reusable, and Easy.

It is this open-access approach to cutting edge user engagement that CoreTech hopes to help provide to nonprofits, public benefit corporations, and social enterprise.

Typically, nonprofits (and other organizations "for good") are founded with their service mission in mind. Individuals and groups organize with the best intentions, but rarely do those intentions include the creation of a complex system of hardware, software, and high-level marketing approach. Even if the potential benefits of technology are understood by these organizations, they may, understandably, believe that the cost-benefit does not work in their favor. Unfortunately, this can mean some of the best work being done is nearly invisible to the world at large. CoreTech fully intends to change this!

Committed to accelerating organizations' ability to leverage technology on many levels, CoreTech provides access to hardware, software, and knowledge modules. Those resources translate into better storage, data transmission, and systems engineering for digital platform, as well as higher visibility and user engagement -- something organizations can hardly go without in our increasingly app-centric world. This also results in the ability to operate at a larger scale with better communication and greater efficiency across the organization.

To see what kind of programs this makes possible, visit their Initiatives Page to learn about efforts like Project LiQuid and Project Prime.

Are you beginning to imagine what this makes possible?

If this has you thinking about how technology might help your favorite cause... and if you're beginning to brainstorm what kind of app might improve your favorite nonprofit...this challenge is for you!

Go to the Apps for Humanity Challenge Page on heroX and to engage with the community and submit your ideas!

CoreTech will be accepting ideas through January 15th, 2016!
