XPRIZE Visioneers 2017 Kicks Off

It's time to announce the XPRIZE Visioneers 2017 challenge: a global call for industry disruptors, innovative tinkerers, and social advocates to bring their ideas forward.

Every year XPRIZE sets its sight on "Grand Challenges" facing the world: commercial spaceflight, solving the water crisis, processing practically all of our landfill waste, keeping women safer -- you get the idea. The participants and winners of these contests are incredible people, but it also takes incredible people to come up with these goals in the first place, and bring the competition to life.

That's where you come in. XPRIZE Visioneers Challenge is looking for passionate, motivated leaders to help design and develop impact proposals that will help determine the subject of XPRIZE 2017.

What do you care most about? How do you want to make the world a better place? This is your chance to harness the power of worldwide incentive challenges to make your dream a reality.

We're looking for your vision, but that doesn't mean you'll be going it alone. You'll have plenty of help along the way, including a  boot camp to drill you and your fellow Visioneers on the fundamentals of good prize design. You can even team up with a sponsoring company who shares your goals, and tap into the wisdom of experts in the field.

XPRIZE Visioneers 2016

Looking for some thoughts to get you started? At last year's challenge, the XPRIZE Visioneers 2016, three Visioneer teams had their concepts certified as "ready for launch." Will your contribution follow in their footsteps this go-around?

  • The Conquering Cancer XPRIZE, sponsored by Deloitte, aims to develop new ways to prevent, detect, and treat that devastating disease.

  • The Avatar XPRIZE, sponsored by Ana, wants to create physical avatars of any shape that we can digitally inhabit and control (yup, just like the movie.)

  • The Cat's Iron Will ALS XPRIZE, sponsored by Caterpillar Inc, is developing a plan to better treat and ultimately cure Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease).

As you can see, you'll need to think big if you want to get on the radar for this contest. They're looking for bold, world-changing ideas that might even sound impossible, but you shouldn't let a word like that stop you

You can even check out last year's contest here on HeroX, to see how the process went and the discussions that led to the eventual winners. Do you have what it takes to see the world in a new way, and the motivation to actually work towards that goal? Well, the opportunity is here. Head on over to the XPRIZE Visioneers 2017 Challenge page now to learn more, get registered, and start making a difference.
