The Integra Gold Rush Challenge: There's Still Time to Enter

BY MATT WILLIAMS | 1 min read

With the goal of triggering another gold rush in the Val-D'Or region of Quebec (who's name literally means "the valley of gold"), Integra has launched the Integra Gold Rush Challenge. With a prize of $1 million CAD, the company is looking for innovative solutions that can crunch 75 years' worth of mining data (a total of 6 terabytes) and help locate the untapped gold deposits that still reside in their historic Lamaque Mine.

And with less than two weeks to go before the submission deadline, there is still time to join the competition. And to make things even more interesting in this last leg of the race, the company has offered some additional information and incentives. For starters, Integra has offered a "Bonus Pack", which consists of data from two zones from the Lamaque South Property - called Vein 6 an Plug 5.

These zones, which are locate next to the Lamaque South Property (the main area addressed in the Challenge) offer competitors a chance to test out their ideas for located gold deposits. If you have an idea prepared, feel free to take a run at these test zones before submitting it. See if your innovative/creative method for locating the untapped deposits in the Lamaque and Sigma mines is likely to hit paydirt!

Also, competitors are encouraged to submit video clips of their team, introducing themselves and indicating why they deserve to win the prize. Video clips should be no longer than 30 seconds, and should be shot in a landscape format (using a phone or tablet) that highlights where the team is from. Nothing too fancy, but good resolution is a definite must!

If your video meets these criteria, it just must appear in Integra's next promotional video. Their last promotional video garnered over 30,000 hits. By adding a video of your team, you will have a chance to become one of the many faces of the Integra Gold Rush Challenge! Details about the Bonus Pack and video clips are available in Updates section of the Challenge page.

All submissions are to be made before Dec. 1st, 2015. Judging will commence on Dec. 2nd, and the winners will be announced by March 9th, 2016.

Are you a miner, surveyor, analyst, or someone who just loves crunching data? Then head on over to the Integra Gold Rush Challenge for a chance to win $1 million CAD. There's still time!
