“Delight in insight and making things work.”
bio
My name is Simon de Weerdt and I spent my early childhood in northern Canada and have lived in Vancouver from age 15, ultimately raising a family and working as a bus driver until 2019. I graduated from the University of BC with a Bachelor of Computer Science after switching from Engineering Physics where I had started various projects such as an in-hand keyboard and giant frisbee to examine the Magnus effect. I am continually thinking of interesting problems and ways to view, solve and/or express them. My Grandfather was an Artist/Engineer and in choosing engineering I was seeking to follow my both Grandfather and Buckminster Fuller who talked about comprehensive design engineering, which I understand as the need for cross discipline understanding applied in design.  Mr. Fuller perhaps best represents my aspiration as an artist, inventor and contributor to our collective expression on this planet. To find solutions one must first understand the problem, the quality of solution is dependent on the understanding of the issue being addressed. Great questions may provoke great projects.
