The ALIGNED Athlete
Breathwork designed to empower athletes to increase performance athletically and academically, by slowing down and finding alignment.
3. Opportunity: Which pillar of well-being, and which aspect of that particular pillar, are being addressed by the idea? In what way does it influence a pillar? What type of individual and community would benefit from the idea?
This Breathwork session links together the mind and body, by empowering those involved to use their breathe and their body to relax, release and realign. Through the breathe patterns and mantras used, college level female athletes will reconnect with their bodies, find safety in slowing down and access one of the most powerful self healing tools available to them, in order to increase not only their performance, but their wellbeing.
4. Innovation: Why is your idea unique, novel, and/or impactful? What will the future look like if we’re successful in bringing your idea to life? How does the proposed solution differ from existing solutions addressing human well-being?
College athletes are often under extreme pressure to be successful, both in the classroom and on the field. Under that amount of stress it can feel unsafe to slow down or rest. Because of this, many struggle with overtraining, under eating, anxiety and illness that effect their athletic performance, academics and their health. Our Breathwork workshops will empower student athletes to find safety in their bodies, to breathe and align in order to improve their performance and their happiness.
5. Action Plan: Please justify and briefly describe the major steps needed to make this idea a reality. Does the technology and understanding exist now? Is it likely to exist in the next 3-5 years?
The lulu lemon team would collaborate with a small group of pause breathwork facilitators to create a program to be implemented at colleges and universities across the United States. Since all you need for breathwork is your breathe, all the technology for this powerful collaboration already exisits. Sessions will address topics such as releasing control, releasing anxiety, increasing energy, self confidence, goal setting, future casting and other topics relevant to high performing athletes. Focus groups of student athletes may be consulted to help design the most impactful and relevant sessions. Teams will reach out to college athletic directors to market the value in fostering the development of Aligned Student Athletes.
6. (OPTIONAL) Record a 30-60 second selfie-video explaining your idea and the impact it will make on one or more of the three aspects of health: body, mind, and/or community.
