Comprehensive data sets are integral to the enforcement planning process. Good data helps inspectors and investigators set priorities, identify specific environmental problems, and locate problem areas. An application with the ability to collect and disseminate accurate and actionable data regarding environmental conditions and concerns has the potential to improve the response of environmental inspectors and investigators.
Jacob holds a BA in Anthropology from SUNY Geneseo, and a Masters of Applied Anthropology from the University of Maryland, College Park. He has worked for the Maryland Department of the Environment performing surface water quality sampling across the state of Maryland, and has over ten years of experience with DOEE in environmental enforcement, investigation, and emergency response.
We were able to work with HeroX to draft challenge guidelines, promote the challenge to a targeted audience of interested parties, and ultimately draw a crowd of innovators from across the globe to submit proposals to address our challenge. We were quite satisfied with the number and diversity of both individuals and proposals that the challenge drew.
