Dr Wei Zhuang is a Geneva-based international lawyer and a climate change policy specialist. She advises governments on international trade law and policy and assists Members in WTO dispute settlement proceedings. Previously, she practiced international law at an international trade law firm in Geneva, the World Trade Organization and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. She also closely followed international climate change negotiations while serving as associate fellow with the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law. She was a Marie Curie Fellow with the DISSETTLE (Dispute Settlement in Trade: Training in Law and Economics) Programme, a Visiting Fellow at the University of Cambridge (Lauterpacht Centre for International Law), and a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law. Wei holds a Ph.D. in international law (Geneva) and an LL.M in international dispute settlement (MIDS) and an LL.M in international law (Shandong). She is the author of the book “Intellectual Property Rights and Climate Change: Interpreting the TRIPS Agreement for Environmentally Sound Technologies” (CUP, 2017). Her essay on renewable energy incentives from legal and economic perspectives is the winning essay of the first ever Trade and Development Symposium Bridges Writing Competition organised by the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development.
