CEO International Desalination Consulting Associates. Member Honorary Council, Chair Energy and Environment Committee of International Desalination Association (lDA) President and CEO of IDCA/LET, has been involved in the desalination industry for more than 35 years. He joined Bechtel Group in 1972 in R&D followed by increased responsibilities for power and water programs as International Bechtel Co. Ltd VP and Senior Regional Representative for the Middle East. IDA Board member for 45 years and first Dean of IDA desalination Academy for 7 years until 2019. Mr. Awerbuch was Past President of IDA and was Chairman of six IDA World Congresses. As Chairmen of IDA Technical Programs, he organized and chaired over 40 conferences, forums, seminars, and workshops around the world. He is Board member of Global Clean Water Desalination Alliance (GCWDA). He was advisor to MASDAR renewable desalination program, evaluator of solar-desalination proposals of U.S. Department of Energy. Holds 28 patents and has published over 90 technical papers. For Nanofiltration membrane softening technology, he was granted numerous patents covering the MED-MSF-RO-NF Hybrid Technologies. Other patents cover Geothermal Energy and Flue Gas Desulphurization. His patented MSF-NF project won the 2007 GWI Award for Innovation. First prize for Innovation by the Saudi Water and Electricity Forum in 2007. LET was a first prize winner by inaugural H20 Water Awards 2010 for advancement of the MENA region's water industry. One of the pioneers in Hybrid Power-Desalination concepts, Desalination ASR and Hybrid MSF-MED. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award from IDA at the 2007 World Congress in Grand Canarias and Life Achievement at the Inaugural Power Generation and Water Solutions Middle East Awards October 2009. In January 2015 Awerbuch was voted one of Water & Wastewater International’s top 25 industry leaders, and in 2019 awarded 51 Most Impactful Leader in Water and Water Management He received a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Warsaw Technical University. Graduate Study toward a PhD in Chemical Engineering, at Warsaw Technical University and Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, New York.
