I am Professor Emeritus of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. I received my B.S. degree in Applied Math from the University of Michigan and my M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southern California. I began my career at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory as a Member of the Technical Staff of the Navigation Systems Section. I then served on the faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University, before joining the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at UC Irvine. I teach the junior-level course on astronautics and have advised the UCI Rocket Project each year since 2005.
