Dr. Ho-Wook Jun is a Professor of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Alabama at Birmingham since he joined as an Assistant Professor in 2006. Dr. Jun is a Co-Founder and a Chief Scientific Officer of Endomimetics, Inc. Dr. Jun received Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Rice University in 2004. From 2004-2006, he was the Peter and Ruth Nicholas Postdoctoral Fellow at the Richard Smalley Institute for Nanoscale Science and Technology and in the Department of Chemistry at Rice University. Dr. Jun has received numerous awards including the Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), Fellow of the American Heart Association (AHA), Coulter Fellow and Early Career Award from the Wallace H. Coulter Foundation, Innovation Award from the American Diabetes Association, CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation (NSF), and President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, School of Engineering Educational Excellence Award, Dean’s Award for Excellence in Mentorship, and President’s award for Excellence in Teaching, and the McMahon-Pleiad Prize by University of Alabama System.
