Over the last 6 years I have focused on augmenting my degree with practical hands on experience. I have done this in the form of robotics projects. In high school, I was part of a very competitive FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team. My FRC team worked on our robot every single day after school and on Saturdays for 4 months. The culmination of our work lead us to qualify for the world championship. In college, I started the student competition team, Texas Aerial Robotics (TAR) at UT Austin. TAR competes in the International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC). IARC challenged my team to come up with solutions to GPS denied navigation, obstacle avoidance, and real time decision making all in full autonomy. In our first 2 years we finished 4th and 2nd respectively out of 30 teams. The skills I have cultivated from previous projects gives me confidence I will able to help lead my team to solve the alphapilot challenge.
