This program is not directly targeting any barriers, it is intended to reinforce the participant's recognition and hopefully translate into an increase in trial enrollment.
I do not have links to any barriers, (my apologies)
I would anticipate it to be challenging to find someone to manage the program. I believe the best approach would be to have a foundation or organization take the lead.
This is not a solution on its own therefore I do not believe it would provide a substantial increase in accrual rates. I do believe though that it could surely be an extra incentive for some patients to enroll.
If the question was asked on a Survey, you would know if this was part of the enrollment thought process.
People will always appreciate being recognized for something they did therefore if it is incentive enough to enroll, that trend will not change over time.
As far as the Recognition Prize is concerned, I would assume there is an uneasy feel to such a proposal since we are involving money and sick or perhaps dying individuals.. We have to see it for exactly what it is, a recognition of your involvement.
