Technologies that help us make nutritious foods delicious (as opposed to making the delicious foods more healthy).

BACKGROUND

The Well-being food concept is defined as a positive psychological, physical, emotional, and social relationship with food at both individual and societal levels. Some food can play a role in lifting our mood, energy levels, and concentration, while others can have the opposite effect. Eating well helps to reduce the risk of physical health problems like heart disease and diabetes. It also helps with sleeping patterns, energy levels, and general health. Our mood often affects the types of food people choose, as well as how much they eat.

KEY SUCCESS CRITERIA

  • Kitchen logic / clean label (No No No = No artificial flavours, preservatives or colorants) (including cloudiness agents) and anticaking agents;
  • Health (hard and/or soft) claims for immunity, gut health,  cognitive performance, edible beauty, etc;
  • Applicability to our mainstream product matrices (e.g. biscuits, chocolate, chocobakery, gums & candies, and when possible, powdered beverages );
  • Suitable to use in different geographies (regulation).

POSSIBLE APPROACHES

  • Sustainable sourcing;
  • Plant based ingredients.

WHAT WE AREN'T INTERESTED IN

  • Commercially available ingredients from large vendors;
  • Health states that would otherwise require medical care;
  • Artificial or chemical.

PREFERRED COLLABORATION TYPES

At this stage, we're open to various types of mutually-beneficial partnerships, but looking for ready-to-commercialize or late phase development solutions.
