Overview
An immersive hybrid open-source app "Shoe Off/Shine On" is educational and motivational empathy game. The player is meant to grow from playing the Shoe On, Shine Off game and the survey’s at the beginning and end will add insight to just how well the game is played and how well the user has been trained to become an empathetic & compassionate person.
In a digital world that has become increasingly disconnected my game requires the user to look beyond themselves, to see and act to people who don't necessarily look like them, but through interface with the game they will come to know that people are more alike, than they are different.
There are twelve levels of "Shoe On, Shine Off" (not counting the two surveys) Each gateway level can be played by a single user or by multiple users. Each is meant to engage children as well as adults and it’s encouraged for families.
I’m particularly keen to see the game used on college campuses across the country, in much the same way that FaceBook was first discovered, but my game will be privacy compliant.
I also envision it as a way to get people to meet & greet situations, hence the Walking the Walk- GO! Which gets people out and about, exercising and safely sharing a morning coffee or an evening cocktail with other users of the app!
And finally, for the CEO who has hired the employee from Transylvania but knows nothing of that culture, the game is not a study, but rather an introduction to people. The gateway level of “Whose Shoe” is simply identifying that particular shoe among a vast mound of shoes, because something that simple can be a conversation breaker.
Hmmm, what else… there’s a lot to learn once we’re willing t play and learn. Another good thing about my game “Shoe Off/Shine On” is there are no religious connotations and no politics ever- ever. These are divisive and aren’t part of the game’s journey.
