Today's tags have the potential to create astronomical amounts of data.

Imagine being able to recreate every flipper stroke a turtle makes, understand how they interact in the water, and know where and when they forage.

While the tag technology exists to capture very fine scale data, these tags are too data intensive to transmit to ARGOS satellites and scientists are required to recover a tag from the water and insert the SD card into their computer.

Your solution to the Next Generation Animal Tracking Challenge should consider how to improve data bandwidth. Tune in to our latest update from BOEM Biologist Jake Levenson on the potential of fine scale data.
