title
Solar Powered Electric Yachts/Boats
short description
the powered boats/yachts burn fossil fuels for their propulsion systems at a rate much greater than automobiles.
Full Description
According to the Environmental Protection (eponline.com) The Environmental Impacts of Powered Boating - Several studies have identified dozens of unintentional and unexpected hazards to the environment associated with powered boating. While a day on the boat might sound fun and relaxing, environmentally conscious powered boaters should consider what their watercraft is doing to the ecosystem and the air around them.

The largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from human activities in the United States is from burning fossil fuels for electricity, heat, and transportation. Over 90 percent of the fuel used for transportation is petroleum based, which includes primarily gasoline and diesel.

The technologies of marine electrical solar and battery energy storage are available. However, design to integrate these technologies for a marine craft can be challenging.
