In August 2025, a Public Health Emergency order went into effect to address our state's rising infant mortality rates. 2024 data shows the overall infant mortality rate increased to 9.7 deaths per 1,000 live births, which is the highest in more than a decade, with a much higher rate in the African American community (15.2 infant deaths per 1,000 live births)! In September 2026, the PHE order remains in place, and our team has an innovative idea that we believe will help to reverse the devastating trends. We are Team "One Mississippi".
