To what extent will computers replace teachers in the coming years? 

We all know the Khan Academy has taken the education world by storm, with over 100 million downloads since it launched 2006; providing a full k-12 education curriculum online and free to everyone in the world. 

Additionally, Microsoft's emotion-recognition API  -- part of their impressive "Oxford" suite, opens the door to computers that interact in a highly authentic, responsive conversational mode. 

A Guardian article offers some interesting perspectives on whether teachers will be rendered totally obsolete.
