Nuclear energy has once prevented 1.8 million net deaths worldwide as reported by NASA, including the historical disasters of the Chernobyl 1986 and Fukushima 2011. This ranks nuclear the safest energy source, even better than most renewable energy production (in terms of deaths per energy unit produced). Pollutants during production are also much cleaner and manageable while compared to burning fossil fuels. This along with significant energy produced, reaching 24GWh per kg of U-235.
Yet, nuclear energy are still viewed for their war time past which often lead to misled views, causing huge opposition on the development of nuclear energy.
