If you think you may need a little extra time, we may be able to grant short extensions—but you must request one before the deadline. Just reach out to us at and let us know.

You’re absolutely encouraged to update or improve your proposal before the deadline. Make sure it aligns with the challenge’s core focus:
We are looking for novel, actionable solutions—not literature reviews or overviews of existing technologies.
Your proposal should outline a realistic path to developing a low-cost, at-home microplastics detection test within 1–2 years.
