Tom earned his Doctor of Philosophy degree in 2014 from the Mechanical Engineering Department at Stevens Institute of Technology while studying the effect of personality assignment on robot team performance in the context of reinforcement learning agents. He also holds a Masters of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering and a graduate level Ordnance Certificate from Stevens, as well as a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering and an undergraduate level Aerospace Certificate from Rutgers University. Since 2002, he has been employed in the Aeroballistics Division at ARDEC, where he is responsible for estimating projectile aerodynamics, wind tunnel test analysis, high fidelity projectile simulation and simulation development, flight data reduction, and guidance, navigation, and control algorithm development. Tom’s current research interests include under-determined and over-determined navigation algorithms, cooperative guidance algorithms including applications of swarm technology to projectile systems, and applications of reinforcement learning adaptation to projectile technologies.
