Shamara P. Collins, PhD is Chief Technology Officer of The BEMI Group LLC, a well-versed consulting firm which provides concept design, technical advisement, and process improvement to all organization types. Dr. Collins’ subject matter expertise includes renewable energy and the solar power ecosystem, ranging from policy to technologies. She earned her doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida with a concentration in CdTe thin films. Examples of her scholarship include securing fellowships from the U.S. Department of Energy, National Science Foundation, and the National Institutes of Health. Some of her recent work includes contributing to project management of the Solar District Cup competition and design of the National Community Solar Partnership. Demonstrations of her passion for community involvement and stakeholder engagement includes work with the Clean Energy Leadership Institute, along with contributing to engineering education organizations. Her professional goal is to popularize solar electricity with the understanding that energy equity is intrinsic, to ensure Power (is distributed) to the People.
