bio
A master’s student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences, working with red ribbon seaweed (Develarea mollis). I was born and raised in Alaska and received my BS in marine biology from the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS). During my time at UAS, I was an intern in Dr. Stekolls mariculture lab working with graduate students on life cycle projects with Saccharina latissima and Alaria marginata. I have participated in mariculture research for the last four years, researching topics in kelp hatchery improvements, animal husbandry and harmful algal bloom monitoring at an oyster farm. I have hands on experience in the mariculture industry from my almost two years of work at Salty Lady Seafood Co, a local oyster farm. I recently became a American academy of underwater sciences (AAUS) diver and I have a passion for marine ecosystems, especially algae.
