“I love a challenge.”
bio
Matt is a research scientist and oceanographer that spent his career doing whatever seemed like the most fun at the time. His research includes, but is not limited to, studies of coastal erosion and shoreline change, developing new computer models to forecast changes in the Arctic sea ice for the National Ice Center, and helping the FAA and NASA estimate how close aircraft should be allowed to fly behind one another. Matt's real niche is in using large, complex multi-variate data sets to develop simple parametric models that can be used by decision and policy makers to make smart decisions.
