Karlis is currently studying for M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) in pediatrics at Riga Stradiņš university, the top Latvian institution of higher health and human sciences education. At only 23 years old he is already an author and co-author of several scientific publications in Latvia's and Europes top scientifical journals, covering such areas as pediatric cardiology and heart-lung transplantation. He is currently conducting a scientific research in the field of pediatric cardiology. Karlis has also been a medical advisor for National Geographic journal in 2015.
