“The problems I encounter day to day, inspire me to innovate with solutions. Moreover, mentoring also”
Based in New Delhi, I am a mechanical engineer with a strong passion for innovation. I earned a formal graduate degree in mechanical engineering in 1981 from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, India with distinction. During the 5 year fulltime academic program, I secured a formal internship of one year (sandwiched within the university program) at ABB Ltd (then known as HBB Ltd, a listed Swiss company) with a monthly stipend. Thereafter, I completed a Diploma in Business Management from Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan based in Mumbai.
During the 30+ years of working experience, I have been more involved in roles in Sales & Marketing, particularly, in high technology machinery. This includes a stint with a leading listed French company for about 8 years in promoting sales of their CAD CAM solutions for automation of the cutting of technical textiles in areas of aerospace, automotive, wind turbines, and defence.
In the field of innovation, I successfully participated in innovation contests and won the best idea award in the field of composites from a US based leading company into Glass Fabrics (Owens Corning). I am currently connected with the Atal Innovation Mission of the NITI Aayog (National planning arm of the Government of India) as a Regional mentor of change, mentoring student innovations in tinkering labs. I have basic practice on CollabCAD, and am certified for Industry 4.0.
I have ample experience of ideation, design and prototyping. I have an application for patent pending for an innovative tyre inflation facilitation device that solves a social problem related to exploitation of labour, and fuel savings. I have travelled fairly widely across the world, and have commercially transferred a problem solving idea to a Chinese manufacturer of instruments
