The NIH has announced the Phase 2 winners of the Community Champions for Disability Health Challenge! After a year of implementation, three teams have been selected to receive $75,000 each for their outstanding work to reduce health disparities experienced by people with disabilities.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to everyone who made this challenge possible. To the eight Phase 2 teams: your dedication, creativity, and commitment to your communities have been extraordinary. Each of you has demonstrated what community-led change looks like in action, and this challenge is better because of your work.

We also thank the challenge sponsors and partners at the National Institutes of Health, including NICHD’s National Center for Medical Rehabilitation Research (NCMRR), the National Eye Institute (NEI), the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), NIH Office of the Director (OD), and the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living, and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR). Your support has made this groundbreaking competition possible.

Thank you to our expert judges and reviewers, especially those who brought lived experience of disability to their evaluations. And to the broader community of followers, supporters, and advocates who have engaged with this challenge from the beginning; your attention and encouragement have amplified the impact of this work.
