Terms and conditions for the Viasat: Space for Good 2026 Competition – India Universities (the "Competition")
By entering the Competition, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions (these "Terms and Conditions"). Promotional materials relating to the Competition, including all information on how to enter the Competition, also form part of these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any conflict between any terms referred to in such promotion materials and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions take precedence.
The promoter of this Competition is Viasat Inc ("Viasat") whose address is at 6155 El Camino Real. Carlsbad, CA 92009. The co-promoter of this Competition is HeroX, PBC, a Delaware corporation with a principal place of business at 3, Germany Dr, Unit 4-4402 Wilmington, DE 19804 ("HeroX").
2. Participants must be at least eighteen (18) years old and must be a student enrolled at an accredited Indian University or institute of higher education. Participants must have internet access. All students that progress to Phase 3 of the Competition shall be required to verify their enrolment at an accredited University or institute of higher education. Employees, officers, directors, contractors and agents of either Viasat or HeroX, or any of their respective subsidiary or affiliated companies, and their immediate families (which includes spouse, parent, child, sibling or any person related by marriage or adoption) and members of their households whether related or not, and anyone otherwise connected with the operation or fulfilment of the Competition are not eligible to participate in the Competition. Any finalists who took part in any previous Space for Good Competition are not eligible to participate in the Competition in 2026. Viasat reserves the right to require participants to prove that they are eligible. If the winner(s) of a prize are found to be ineligible, Viasat reserves the right to award the prize concerned to another participant and to require the return of any prize already awarded to such an ineligible winner.
3. Participants will enter the Competition individually (no groups) and may only submit one entry.
4. You must register and carry out the below Application Process in order to enter the Competition. You can also submit your 'interest' from this date and receive updates on the competition. All answers to enter Phase 1 of the Competition must be submitted between 8:00 am (IST) Monday 8 June 2026 and no later than 11:59 pm (IST) on Sunday 19 July 2026. You are required to complete the Application Process (as mentioned below) in order to submit your responses, so please plan for enough time before this deadline. There are three (3) phases to the Competition, as set out below:

5. Entry to the Competition is free; no purchase is necessary.
6. To enter the Competition, you must enter in accordance with the details in Section 4 above. Entries submitted by any other means will not be accepted: only those submitted via the official method of entry. Any illegible, incomplete or fraudulent entries will be rejected. Participants may make a maximum of 1 entry into the Competition and participants may not enter the Competition more than once. Any entries in addition to this may result in their disqualification.
7. The prizes to be won are the following, depending on each place awarded at the end of the Final (each, a "Prize"):
First place:
Travel and accommodation costs to attend the Final Week and Final.
Viasat branded goodies.
Second place:
Travel and accommodation costs to attend the Final Week and Final.
Viasat branded goodies.
Third place:
Travel and accommodation costs to attend the Final Week and Final.

8. Viasat or HeroX will contact the winner at their indicated email address following the Final with instructions on how to redeem the Prizes. All cash Prizes will be paid directly to eligible winner’s personal bank account by HeroX no later than 90 days from the date winners are announced. Winners must provide complete and accurate bank account details on the Website as reasonably required to receive the electronic transfer. For cash Prizes, winners shall supply any information needed no later than 10 business days from the date winners are announced.
9. The winners are responsible for paying all associated costs that are not specifically stated in these Terms and Conditions, including (where applicable) meal costs, spending money, cost to obtain any necessary travel documents and any and all other incidentals, and any tax liability associated with the Prizes. Each Prize is as stated and is nonexchangeable and non-transferable. There is no cash or other alternative to the Prizes in whole or in part. By participating in the Competition, participants agree that the Prizes are awarded on an "as is" basis, and that neither Viasat, HeroX nor any of their subsidiary or affiliated companies, make any representations or warranties of any nature with respect to the Prizes.
10. The winner(s) may be required to submit valid identification before receiving their Prize.
11. In the event that, for reasons beyond Viasat's reasonable control and not related to the winner(s), Viasat is unable to award a Prize as described in these Terms and Conditions, Viasat reserves the right to award a prize of a similar nature and an equivalent value.
12. By entering the Competition, participants agree to have their name, photograph, image, likeness, visual, written and verbal statements, submissions, sound of the participant's voice, and recordings (including, but not limited to, livestream) of their participation in the Competition and the Final ("Media Materials") featured in publicity materials relating to the Competition (including, but not limited to, all of HeroX’s and Viasat's websites and social media channels) without further reference, payment or other compensation. This also includes making their name as the winner available on the Website, between 2026 and 2029. Details of the winner(s) will also be made available to participants and the public on request by sending an email to no later than two (2) months after the Final. Participant grants Viasat and HeroX a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free right and license to use the Media Materials in any and all publications. Participant authorizes Viasat and HeroX to edit, alter, copy, exhibit, publish or distribute the Media Materials for purposes of publicizing Viasat, or for any other lawful purpose.
13. HeroX will collect and process participants' personal information in order to conduct the Competition in accordance with its privacy policy. Participant name, email address, as well as personal details from their entry to the Competition will be transferred between HeroX and Viasat's agents to the extent necessary for the prize to be redeemed by the winner(s) and for Viasat to administer the Competition. If participants do not provide any of the mandatory information requested when entering the Competition, they may not take part in the Competition. Participants' names and other personal details from their entry to the Competition received and stored by Viasat will be processed for the purposes of administering the Competition, and, in limited cases, further outreach from Viasat in accordance with Viasat's privacy notice. Any contact and/or invitations from Viasat to participate in further outreach activities are not offers of employment. You may also be contacted and invited by Viasat and/or HeroX to complete optional/voluntary surveys about your experience, throughout and after the Competition. Participant name and contact information may also be shared with sponsors of the Competition solely for the purpose of such sponsors contacting you regarding career opportunities.
13. Viasat reserves the right to modify, cancel, terminate or suspend the Competition in whole or in part, at its sole discretion, if it believes the Competition is not capable of being conducted as specified within these Terms and Conditions or in the event of a virus, a computer bug or unauthorized human intervention or any other cause that is beyond the reasonable control of Viasat that could corrupt or affect the administration, security, impartiality or normal course of the Competition. Neither Viasat or HeroX, nor any of their respective subsidiary or affiliated companies, are responsible for any condition, circumstances, losses, failures or delays caused by events beyond its or their control such as (but not limited to) the acts or defaults of any supplier selected by Viasat to provide the Prizes or otherwise that may cause the Competition to be disrupted or corrupted.
14. “Intellectual Property” means ideas, inventions, information, works of authorship, and symbols, names, images, and designs embodied in, for example, technical data, designs, computer software, mask works, computer models, data, drawings, formulae, specifications, diagrams, processes, know-how, patents, trade secrets, procedures, technology, and other confidential information (including but not limited to, ideas, pricing information, plans, lists, and discoveries), and all legal rights therein.
15. Subject to clause Error! Reference source not found.6, as between each participant and Viasat, the participant shall own all the copyright and other Intellectual Property vesting in the entries submitted to the Competition and any other materials (whether visual, oral or written) generated solely by the participant and submitted during the various stages of this Competition (the “Materials”), in perpetuity and on a worldwide basis for use at their sole discretion. The participant grants Viasat a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free right and license to use extracts from the Materials in marketing materials to publicize the Competition and Viasat and to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publicly perform, publicly display, distribute, make other versions of, prepare derivative works of, and disclose to third parties, including to one or more AI tools, the Materials as appropriate for purposes of administering the Competition. For purposes of clarity, any Intellectual Property in feedback provided by any agent, employee, or representative of Viasat, including Participant’s Mentor or any judge, to the Materials generated based on interactions between Participant and any agent, employee, or representative of Viasat, including Participant’s Mentor or any judge, (“Feedback”) whether developed solely by Participant or jointly with any agent, employee, or representative of Viasat, shall be owned by Viasat. Viasat grants the Participant a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free right and license to use the Feedback or extracts therefrom in marketing materials in publicizing the Competition and the Participant.
16. For a period of twelve (12) months from the date of the Final of the Competition (the “Option Period”), Viasat shall have a right of first refusal to purchase any Intellectual Property in the Materials at a freely negotiated market rate. During the Option Period, the participant may not commercially exploit the Intellectual Property in the Materials (including by selling it to any third parties) without first obtaining confirmation from Viasat that Viasat does not wish to exercise its right of first refusal. If Viasat exercises its right at any time during the Option Period, the parties shall commence good faith negotiations and the participant may not commercially exploit the Intellectual Property in the Materials for a further period of six (6) months (even if that period extends beyond the Option Period) to allow sufficient time for the negotiations to conclude.
17. Participants shall not incorporate any third-party materials into the entries submitted to the Competition without prior permission from the third party. Participants' entries shall be genuine, and all third-party sources must be properly referenced. Viasat reserves the right to disqualify any participant based on any plagiarism or misused third-party content.AI tools should be used thoughtfully and in line with guidance provided by Viasat:
17.1 All Participants who elect to use AI tools must:
17.1.1 Use any AI tool(s) ethically and responsibly.
17.1.2 NOT input or expose any of the following data types to AI tools any data unless you have the necessary rights to use such data in that AI tool. This includes any confidential or proprietary information of a third party.
17.1.3 NOT submit an input to AI tools that may result in output that infringes on the Intellectual Property of other parties, such as asking an AI tool to generate content that is derivative of or resembles copyrighted works, mimics styles of identifiable creators or brands, or looks or sounds like particular people, companies, products, brands, logos, fonts, or styles. If you have any doubts regarding whether a prompt will infringe on the Intellectual Property of other parties, do not submit it.
17.1.4 Always review outputs generated by AI tools to ensure accuracy, relevance, and appropriateness. AI generated outputs can be incorrect and Participants must exercise judgement and verify the outputs before using them.
17.1.5 Always verify that any citations included in the outputs are accurate and appropriate.
17.1.6 Review AI tool outputs to check if they infringe third-party intellectual property rights, including (a) copyrighted content (text, images, videos, audio); (b) personality/publicity rights (likenesses, voices, or personas of identifiable individual(s); and (c) trademark rights (brand names, logos, slogans, or distinctive brand elements).
18. Neither Viasat nor HeroX will be responsible for any lost, damaged, defaced, incomplete, illegible or otherwise unreadable entries. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions shall in any way limit Viasat's or HeroX’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence or for any other matter where liability may not as a matter of law be limited.
19. Any participant who enters or attempts to enter the Competition in a manner, which in Viasat’s or HeroX’s reasonable determination is contrary to these Terms and Conditions or by its nature is unjust to other entrants (including without limitation tampering with the operation of the Competition, cheating, hacking, deception or any other unfair playing practices such as intending to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other entrants or Viasat / HeroX and/or any of their agents or representatives) may be rejected from the Competition at Viasat or HeroX’s sole discretion. Furthermore, where such actions have significantly impaired the Competition, Viasat may, at its sole discretion, add further stages to the Competition as it deems reasonably necessary in order to resolve any problems arising as a result of such actions.
20. All Viasat decisions in relation to the Competition are final and, except as described above, Viasat will not provide feedback or reasoning for any of its decisions.
21. These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear any dispute or claim arising in association with the Competition or these Terms and Conditions.
