In 2016 - while we were setting up a health project in Lebanon - a young Syrian teenage girl handed over a hand-written letter to us:

“They call me a refugee. Why I am not a refugee. I am a Syrian child with a name and identity. I am from the land of civilization and culture. It was a land of peace. We come here as guests, so why do they call us refugees? Syria was and remains the tender mother. Why have they separated us from her? Will we remain under tents and under hot sun working from morning to night? I am a child and not a machine for agriculture. My name means ‘Promise’ and my promise is that I will not carry the name of refugee forever.”

With the stroke of a pen, a teenage girl in a Refugee Camp had altered the course of this project. These words struck us deeply and its contents would prove to be the inspiration for Promise Hub as a way to “spark entrepreneurship through digital opportunities in a box.”
