My inspiration was to pay homage to a great Canadian, the first astronaut to record an album in space, "Space Sessions" and who came to Edmonton for an autograph session at West Edmonton Mall, sponsored by HMV.

Chris started his autographs at 6 pm, and my wife Patricia and I, were virtually the last to see him at nearly 10:30! He still looked fresh, vibrant and diligently spent time with each new eager face. He was not only extremely attentive, he apologized for the delays every so often to the patiently waiting fans which there were numerous.

Once our opportunity arrived, Chris looked at my rendition with a long pause. He said, "I wish I had that talent." I responded, "you do Chris, you do," and thanked him. He proceeded to sign the portrait while the WEM photographer looked on and snapped photos eagerly. The photographer asked jokingly, if I had done it standing in the line as we waited. Patricia responded, "he's good, but he's not that good."
