Thank you to all who provided feedback. Following the end of the public comment period, we are pleased to share the following updates:

  1. GoAERO Guidelines: Several changes have been made throughout the guidelines, including the removal of the Precision and Adaptation missions and adding some elements to the remaining three missions. The most substantive changes are outlined below, however we strongly encourage all teams to review the guidelines in their entirety for all updates.
  2. GoAERO Stage 1 Submission Form, Judging Criteria, and FAQ’s have also been updated and posted to HeroX.com/GoAERO. Note that if you have already started completing your submission form on the platform, you will need to update to the current form. You will continue to have access to the previous form, but you must copy over all information to the new form.
  3. The Stage 1 Submission Deadline has been moved from October 9, 2024 to December 11, 2024. The winners announcement for Stage 1 has been moved from November 20, 2024 to January 28, 2025.
  4. GoAERO Updated Guidelines Webinar: We will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday, April 24 at 9am PT/ 12pm ET to review all of these updates and to answer questions.

Updates to GoAERO Prize Technical Requirements, April 11, 2024:

  • Removed Precision and Adaptation missions
  • Added floating balloon (previously in Precision mission) to The Flood OZ of Adversity mission
  • Added The Unknown OZ to Adversity mission
  • Removed no-payload option for Adversity partial completion
  • Additional personnel allowed to participate in touch-free preflight checks in deployment phase of Productivity mission
  • Removed completion points cap and completion bonus points
  • Adjusted relative magnitudes of points (to account for reduced mission count)
  • Partial completion of all missions now meets top prize threshold
  • Operating crew bonus definition now allows a 2nd crew member for staging
  • Adjusted workload bonus points, cap, and definition, adding a middle tier
  • Added additional tie-breaking criterion: points with caps removed
  • Numerous rulebook small changes (e.g. added SI units) and document reorganizations for clarity (no or minor substantive impact)
  • Increased top prize to $1M (mission prizes remain at $150k each)
