introduction
title
Turn Any Surface Into Solar Panels
short description
Manufacture low-cost, light-weight solar modules by turning any arbitrary surface into solar arrays through 3D additive manufacturing
Eligibility
Full Description
Traditional solar cell manufacturing requires high quality, rigid, flat base materials (semiconductor or glass surface) and involves multiple disperate processes. By developing an innovative technology like 3D additive manufacturing which could turn any arbitrary conformal surface into solar photovoltaic arrays we could not only make solar cells anywhere, but it could also eliminate hefty structures and reduce the module assembly time and cost. Power consumers will be able to ask further for custom 3D printed solar panels, designed especially for their own needs, with the right shape, the right size.

Submissions may include up to 5 links to research literature that provides background and relevant patents. Such links can be to a website article, a Wikipedia page or for National Lab IP, https://www.labpartnering.org/lab-technologies. It is the Prize Administrator’s hope that the quality of literature referenced in the submissions will factor into voting results.
