Solar for the bees! (and other animals)
short description
Synergies between solar and the surrounding land
Eligibility
Full Description
Recently NREL has done research looking into synergies between solar deployments and the local environment (wild, agricultural). It was found that there are synergies between solar deployments and some species, such as pollinators. This topic is asking for solar energy products which are intentionally designed to promote life in and around the PV system while losing no solar energy production, such as shading due to nests or excrement. Ideal products could be relevant for the nations vast agricultural lands and provide benefits two benefits to the land owners (money from electricity generation and more productive lands from helping critical local species).
