Today, the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Electricity (OE) announced the 13 Phase 1 winning teams of the Digitizing Utilities Prize Round 3: Resilient Grid Innovation.
Each interdisciplinary team will be awarded $75,000 in cash prizes for their proposed solution and understanding of their identified data-focused challenge. The prize addresses challenges laid out in Executive Order 14262—Strengthening the Reliability and Security of the United States Electric Grid.
The following teams will advance to Phase 2 of the competition:

- OpenDrawing/City of Elba (Costa Mesa, CA)

- PowerOutage.com (Orlando, FL)
- Reactive Technologies (New York, NY)
- Team REC (Fredericksburg, VA)
- The Resilient Alabama Team (Birmingham, AL)
- The UCF Power Team (Orlando, FL)
- Theta Runaways (New York, NY)
Now in Phase 2, the prize competitors will work side by side with their energy sector partners to develop and refine a solution that addresses the issues their energy sector partners are facing.
At the end of Phase 2, up to five winners will be awarded $150,000 in cash prizes and a $75,000 voucher, which will allow winning teams to collaborate with DOE national laboratories to access specialized expertise, facilities, and technologies.
