We work to recover resources in plastic waste from polluting air, land, water, space and other planets.
UpGyres Significant Milestones:
- 2013 – Introduced the Beat the Microbead Campaign to Canada which resulted in the Canadian government banning microplastics as ingredients in toiletries and cosmetics from manufacturing, sale and distribution across the country effective July 1, 2018.
- 2014 – Produced a report on converting plastics from beach cleanups into low emission, high-quality fuel in Vancouver and Whitehorse Canada.
- 2015-2016 – UpGyres’ Zero Emissions Ships idea in the top 5 ideas at Our Oceans Challenge.
- 2016 – A winner of the Think Beyond Plastic Competition.
- 2016-2017 – Second year in a row, UpGyres’ Zero Emissions Ships idea in the top 20 ideas at Our Oceans Challenge.
- 2017 – Earned membership in the World Alliance for Efficient Solutions by the Solar Impulse Foundation.
- 2018 – Earned mentorship from, and secured Media Partnership with the Circular Economy Club.
