Welcome to the Solar Prize Round 6, a competition designed to spur innovations in U.S. solar hardware and software technologies and address challenges to rapid, equitable solar energy deployment. With a total of $4.1 million in cash and voucher prizes on the table, Round 6 is now seeking teams of creative individuals and entrepreneurs to advance conceptual solutions toward product realities.

Since its launch in early 2018, the Solar Prize has funded 120 teams with more than $15 million in prizes. Now, we’re gearing up to fund the next cohort of competitors who are ready to make progress quickly, form private-sector partnerships, and engage customers to bring their ideas to life.

If this sounds like you, we want you to join the Solar Prize Round 6!

If you’re familiar with the Solar Prize program, Round 6 will return to the competition’s original structure of having one singular cohort of competitors, as used in Rounds 1-4. Both hardware and software technologies will be accepted.

Through three contests—Ready!, Set!, and Go!—competitors receive increasing financial support and resources, accelerating the entrepreneurial process from years to months and reducing the overall time it takes to transform concepts into early-stage prototypes ready for industry testing.

We’re kicking the prize off with an informational webinar on July 13 to share more details about the timeline, structure, prizes, eligibility, and more. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to ask the prize administrators from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory your questions about the competition.

Register here for the informational webinar on Wednesday, July 13, at 2 p.m. ET.

You can follow this HeroX channel to receive all the latest information about the Solar Prize Round 6. This is also the official competition platform where competitors upload submissions, find rules, and ask questions in the public forum.

We hope to see you bring your ideas, voice, and expertise to the Solar Prize Round 6!
