A dog in every store that wears lululemon branding clothing. The dog is supposed to be friendly with customers and open to pet.
3. Opportunity: Which pillar of well-being, and which aspect of that particular pillar, are being addressed by the idea? In what way does it influence a pillar? What type of individual and community would benefit from the idea?
The idea impacts the mind and community pillars of the three pillars of well-being. A dog mascot that is present inside the store can greatly improve the customers’ minds through boosting their mood and improving their emotions. Petting the mascot helps reduce stress levels and generally promotes happiness. Dogs are also great at bringing people together for a better community. Whenever someone is walking their dog, they often end up interacting with strangers and strengthening the community.
4. Innovation: Why is your idea unique, novel, and/or impactful? What will the future look like if we’re successful in bringing your idea to life? How does the proposed solution differ from existing solutions addressing human well-being?
This solution is unique and innovative because there are no other stores that have a live mascot located inside the store. Existing solutions to addressing human well being in the store are all about making the store feel more open and inviting through physical means. This idea would have a live dog to help promote the general well being of customers. The idea of stress relief dogs have been utilized in other settings.
5. Action Plan: Please justify and briefly describe the major steps needed to make this idea a reality. Does the technology and understanding exist now? Is it likely to exist in the next 3-5 years?
There have been many studies that have proven the therapeutic and prophylactic value of domestic dogs to humans. Having a pet mascot inside of the Lululemon stores would help provide a sense of therapy to customers who need it or just want to relax and play with a cute dog. This idea is realistic as it only requires a live animal (dog) to be put into effect. No technology is necessarily needed to use this idea. So the entirety of the cost in R&D would be in making some sort of branded wear for the dog to wear. Since lululemon is a store catered to athletics and yoga, the dog will help increase the overall wellbeing of the store and does not drastically impact/change the physical space of the store.
