All Bodies Yoga Teacher Training Online Course
Partnering with The Yoga Seed Collective, The All Bodies Yoga Teacher Training Online Course would consist of a 40 hour webinar.
3. Opportunity: Which pillar of well-being, and which aspect of that particular pillar, are being addressed by the idea? In what way does it influence a pillar? What type of individual and community would benefit from the idea?
The All Bodies Yoga Teacher Training Online Course provides yoga teachers with the knowledge and tools to facilitate more physically accessible yoga classes in their own profession. This training is lead by experienced yoga teachers with extensive knowledge of anatomy and working with individuals of all body sizes and physical abilities. This training helps teachers become more informed on injury prevention techniques for their students, as well as guidance on inclusive language in their work.
4. Innovation: Why is your idea unique, novel, and/or impactful? What will the future look like if we’re successful in bringing your idea to life? How does the proposed solution differ from existing solutions addressing human well-being?
Within the social movement of promoting body-positivity, many individuals often experience unintentional discrimination against those who may be perceived as not have the "right body for yoga". Additionally, there are very few yoga teacher trainings which address this issue or provide yoga teachers much training on facilitating a more inclusive yoga class for any body type and physical ability. Lululemon could be the platform to popularize this need for inclusivity through our online course.
5. Action Plan: Please justify and briefly describe the major steps needed to make this idea a reality. Does the technology and understanding exist now? Is it likely to exist in the next 3-5 years?
The Yoga Seed Collective currently provides in-person yoga teacher trainings, and has explored the idea of expanding into hosting online webinar courses. Having a platform to offer online yoga teacher training courses can have a significant impact in reaching a broader audience, empowering teachers with the knowledge to teach more inclusive and trauma-aware yoga classes. The Yoga Seed Collective has offered yoga teacher trainings to the Sacramento area for over 10 years, with our curriculum researched, developed, and taught by leading experts in the fields of trauma-informed yoga. As there has been an increasing amount of attention toward the need of trauma-informed yoga and inclusivity, the demand for this training is expected to increase as well. In order to move forward, filming equipment to record the future trainings would need to be obtained, as well as the support of a major platform such as Lululemon to promote and offer the online course to a mass audience. The Yoga Seed Collective has the curriculum, trainings manuals, and expertise of experienced teachers and staff to deliver these trainings, that with occasional updating to adjust to current cultural shifts in social consciousness and movements, will continue to be relevant for many years. These yoga teacher trainings are held every year, with the next training scheduled on August 22nd, 2020.
6. (OPTIONAL) Record a 30-60 second selfie-video explaining your idea and the impact it will make on one or more of the three aspects of health: body, mind, and/or community.
