Problem Statement

Currently, for synthetic fabrics, the most common printing technique is the sublimation process. Sublimation ink with specific dyes is printed on treated paper support and then the printed image is transferred to the fabric under controlled conditions of time, pressure and temperature. The heat sublimates the ink into a gas that migrates through the fabric fibers and permanently dyes it. However, the current sublimation process is restricted to the printing of fabrics based on synthetic fibers. For natural fabrics such as cotton, silk or linen, the direct digital printing process is used. Compared to the sublimation process, this process is more complex and more expensive since natural fabrics need several steps for their permanent stamping.

Pain Point

An innovative digital printing solution applied to the stamping of natural fabrics is intended to achieve a high-quality end product while improving the efficiency of the current process. This efficiency improvement can be achieved by eliminating the conventional steps (pre-treatment, posttreatment and washing) inherent in the direct printing process on natural fabrics leading to a minimization of energy, water, and consumable expenditures and shortening of the productive cycle of printing of natural fabrics.
