“Thrill of discovery, blending fundamental physics with farm kid ingenuity to solve big problems”
Jack L. Johnson is a visionary entrepreneur and proven leader in energy storage, advanced manufacturing, and automotive/aerospace technologies.
As CEO and co-founder of Jolt Energy Storage Technologies , he leads the company in advancing low-cost organic redox polymer energy storage solutions, having previously driven Series A fundraising to a $60M valuation, managed PhD research teams, and built partnerships with National Labs.
Previously VP Global Business Development at Farasis Energy, he developed a U.S. supply chain strategy with a goal of repatriating advanced manufacturing lessons learned, led sales turnaround efforts, and advanced a IRA tranche II grant to final round for $150M in funding.
As CEO and co-founder of Volta Power Systems , he proved that 48V micro hybrid systems had a place in the market, grew the company to $23M in revenue with 30% margins and robust IP protection in 4 years—all on cash flow. Provided full solution systems to underserved mid market industries like RV, heavy equipment, and marine markets.
At Johnson Controls/Saft he directed the U.S. launch of the first GWh-scale lithium-ion battery plant ($250M DOE ARRA project), to supplying Ford, Mercedes, and Jaguar/Land Rover. Scaled the facility base on a military research facility and scaled it from a brown field to operational GWh in 12 months.
Earlier roles generated $650M in savings and avoided $250M in losses through innovation and crisis response in advanced composite, polymers, and other automotive interior technologies.
A Pittsburg State University dual-degree graduate (BSET Mechanical Engineering Technology, BST Automotive Technology), Jack holds multiple patents, earned Inc. 5000 and Michigan 50 Companies to Watch recognition, and is a TEDx speaker passionate about inspiring innovation in advanced energy.
