bio
Founder & CEO @EBHConsulting | Speaker | Non-dilutive Funding Development & External Evaluation | SBIR/STTR & Data analysis/utilization wonk | M/WBE & WOSB | Buffalo/Niagara NAWBO Past President | Mentor for NSF I-Corp, SBA SCORE, and U@Buffalo's Blackstone LaunchPad powered by Techstars | Judge for various Pitch & Startup Competitions | U@Buffalo Alumni - 2 BAs & MA - Anthropology & Statistics | Full-time Coffee-holic as well as part-time troublemaker & influencer. I started E.B. Howard Consulting in 2013 with the idea that proposal preparation and independent/external evaluation services can be useful, effective, efficient, and, most importantly, AFFORDABLE. Organizations that choose to work with us have a common goal to develop, fund, and implement innovative STEM-based solutions to various social, cultural, educational, or environmental issues. We have completed hundreds of proposals and project evaluation reports for our clients as required by various funding agencies. On average, we provide a return of ~$58 for every $1 spent on SBIR/STTR Phase I proposal preparation costs. For other federal funding, outside of SBIR/STTR - where the proposal budgets are multi-year, we provide a return well over a $100 for every $1 spent. I am passionate about funding equity among women and minority-owned start-ups. So passionate, that in 2014, I started compiling a list of various investment firms that will take you seriously, and that will NOT make a funding decision based on your AGE, GENDER, or ETHNICITY. If you would like an introduction to one of these funders, schedule a consult with me. In 2020, the next evolution of this passion is/was the launch of Startup Fund Hub - a self-service subscription database for non-dilutive funding. With the focus of answering, "Why should non-dilutive funding be this hard to find?" I speak, present, and give talks regularly on anything from the fundamentals of non-dilutive funding (aka grant writing basics), funding equity among women and minority-owned start-ups, to data visualization and utilization, to reporting on outcomes.
