bio
Adam C. Powers is an African-American storyteller, green energy expert, teacher, technologist, artist, botanist, AR & VR developer, and (most importantly) a father of a brilliant little ten-year-old boy. Adam co-founded a nonprofit called Key Tech Labs, where the mission is to bring emerging technologies to underprivileged areas to help create self-sustainable communities. This means they bring new-age tech to communities in need to teach youth how to utilize the tech to empower themselves and their community. Adam's journey in the solar industry began in 2018 with Seattle-based Omnidian, where he expanded his knowledge as a Technical Support Specialist. Motivated by societal challenges, he initiated Omnidian's Civic Action Committee, focusing on J.E.D.I (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) principles, particularly addressing energy poverty and promoting diversity in the solar workforce. Adam's expertise extends to his board membership at Olympia Community Solar. Most recently, Adam completed a Department of Energy (DOE) certified course to become a certified Community Solar Developer. He also serves on the board of Shark Garden, a 1.6-acre urban garden in Burien, WA, producing 5,000 pounds of organic produce annually for the White Center Foodbank. In partnership with Sphere Solar Energy, he played a pivotal role in installing a micro solar grid on the urban farm, enabling it to generate not just food but also energy and water, thanks to an innovative air-to-water generator. Adam's vision is to demonstrate the potential of green technology in community upliftment, advocating for a future where people, technology, and the environment coexist in a mutually beneficial ecosystem. His approach is grounded in practical, accessible solutions, emphasizing individual contributions towards a socially and environmentally just world.
