GoPro is coming!!! PLEASE SIGN WAIVER

June 18, 2022, 2:59 p.m. PDT by Dustin Koehler

Great news!!!

GoPro is sponsoring the video challenge. They are looking for teams willing to fly GoPros either externally or internally. We will have mounting equipment on Monday and on presentation day for external mounts for you to take. We can help talk though different ideas for mounting. Think about where you would want to attach and keep in mind, a screw through the adhesive pad helps. There are also plenty of other ways to mount. You could cut a slit into the rocket so only the lens part is facing out, you could 3D print a nose cone to house a camera maybe be 360 camera. Although it’s probably too late for 3D printing. Keep in mind, that they make great airbrakes if you are overshooting.

Flight videos captured on a GoPro owned camera will count towards the onboard footage; however, you may not be able to use the footage externally until October. GoPro will be here Tuesday afternoon, to discuss with teams directly. Until then, feel free to use the discord channel below, or look for Dustin Koehler at the event.

All members attending the event, should sign the GoPro waiver below. If you are not willing to, please talk with us at check in.

For discussions on mounting methods, see the discord channel below, GoPro will be monitoring.

Liability Insurance for students and student teams

June 14, 2022, 6:43 p.m. PDT by ESRA Executive Director

Reminder for all students - teams should ensure their members are properly covered with liability insurance for their team's launch.  The ESRA and Spaceport America staff are covered under a private policy.  Members of Tripoli Rocketry Association or National Association of Rocketry are also covered under their respective policies.

If you are unsure of your coverage, you should look at the very affordable student membership with Tripoli.  NAR is also a good option which is a bit more expensive but includes the magazine.

As a final reminder, ESRA, Spaceport America or the Spaceport America Cup do NOT provide insurance coverage for teams or students.
