Stuart Croll 

North Dakota State University Professor 

Dr Croll is a Professor in the Department of Coatings and Polymeric Materials at North Dakota State University. Professor Croll has a bachelor’s degree and Ph. D. in physics. He first worked in England, then moved to the National Research Council Canada where he studied internal stresses in coatings. After a career in the US coatings industry and its suppliers, Dr. Croll joined the faculty at North Dakota State University in 2000, and was chair of the department 2006 – 2012. Now he finds time for his research interests which are understanding the physical properties of coatings, weathering, art conservation and computational modeling. In 2012 he was awarded the Mattiello Award from the American Coatings Association and the Tess Award from the American Chemical Society, in 2017, for contributions to coatings science.
